FITC's Suggested Links
For those of you who know Florence well or who are visiting her for the first time, we would like to suggest the following businesses and organizations as worthy of your attention:
The Paperback Exchange is one of FITC's greatest supporters. The store was established in 1979 as a second hand bookstore. Today, it has expanded and can be found in Via delle Oche, a tranquil street in the heart of the city, tucked away under the immense shadow of the Duomo. The original owners, Emily Rosner, of New York , Maurizio Panichi, a Florentine, and their son Jacopo still run the enterprise with a passion.
We are constantly grateful for the talent of Erin Sloan, FITC's volunteer graphic artist. Her work can be found at Sloan Designs.
We appreciate the constant support of The Florentine which works to improve the relationship of the English speaking residents and visitors to the city through its pages.
Simcha Tomas Jelenik not only is a master puppeteer who has performed with FITC in our Day of Memory project but is the owner of Ruth's Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant in Florence. If you are kosher, vegetarian or someone who wants to experience a different type of cuisine in the city, it's located right next to the Synagogue (which is also a truly unique and important building in Florence).
Two FITC artists offer puppetry to children through the work of Bernard Vandal's unique creations. TeatroLa' performs mainly in Italian.
