In May of 2011, Florence International Theatre Company embarked on a new relationship with The Global Theatre Project by initiating several new opportunities and relationships between Florence and the United States. These include:
THE THEATRE IMMERSION PROJECT
Next project is now open for student application. Deadline is March 15th.
With a focus on global awareness and art-for-social-good on an international scale, international university students who participate in the Theatre Immersion Project will be on the cutting edge of exploring theatre’s relevance for global relationships and community service. For more information please contact info@theglobaltheatreproject.org. Or visit the website.
This project will bring serious students of theatre to Florence to not only study, but enhance the cultural contemporary offerings of the city through participating in local events and sharing their gifts and talents with the community. The long-range goal of the Theatre Immersion Project is to offer 3-4 major theatrical projects a year in the city which also attract acclaimed international theatre artists who will work with the students and their peers in the Florence theatre community.
THE FLORENCE-LOS ANGELES CONNECTION
The Global Theatre Project seeks to create healthy international relationships through theatre. With a home base of Los Angeles, California and an international base in Florence, Italy it is only logical to develop a creative connection between these two cities. It's most recent event, 'Especially Now: Create The World Together' showcased the US premiere of Florentine playwright, Stefano Massini. His play, 'A Stubborn Woman: a theatrical memorandum on Anna Politkovskaya' was enthusiastically welcomed at the Los Angeles Theatre Center. This work was originally created for Estate Firenze in May of 2011.
